DUFFY FLAT PACK CONCEPT SHELTER FOR ANY KIND OF EMERGENCY

Flat pack technology, while not state of the art in functionality, is hard to beat in the world of pragmatism. They’re typicality designed to be easily transportable thanks to their small size when broken down but can be assembled by just about anyone.

Take the Duffy Shelter, for example, a smaller flat-pack shelter that can be used for emergency housing in times of crisis, first-aid support at festivals or as the perfectglamping trailer you can build on-site in under an hour.

Conceptualized by Duffy London, a design brand based out of the U.K., each shelter, when flat packed, can fit in a standard sized transit van. In fact, up to 35 of these individual shelters can fit on top of one another in the same vehicle, making it ideal for use during natural disasters.

Each shelter is handmade with harvested and finished wood, and each structure features your basic walls, flooring, legs that elevate the unit off the ground, roof, windows, and hinges. And if you’re camping for a weekend, it’ll comfortably sleep two people. Unfortunately, there’s no exact word on pricing since the Duffy Shelter is still in the concept phase. However, this is certainly a project worth keeping an eye on in the coming years.
