Who doesn't love the charm and character that an embossed tin ceiling provides?  Once found only in historic homes, these wonderful architectural details are the perfect way to add some vintage personality to your home.  If you have a knack for this type of thing, you might make a living building creative pieces.  Another good business idea for the off-gridder.

You don't need to install an entire ceiling or wall to get the look - adding just one single tile to your decor - either as is, or configured and upcycled into something entirely new - is easy and inexpensive. You can find them in old buildings throughout the midwest, but they are typically a lot of work to remove, and you need to replace them with something if you take them down.  That said, there are people in the business of buying old buildings and salvaging the cool parts and restoring the building to be modern.  So they're not too hard to find all over the internet.  But a beautiful piece of history can bring tremendous visual appeal and satisfaction in your home.  Here are some great ways to use them:
