1824's Log Fort Gibson In Oklahoma - A History And Current Renovation
Categories: Building Methods
On May 7, 2014, we stopped by to visit and view progress on the fort:
Water stripped yellow pine and old style mortar are being used as a part of original techniques in restoration. Use of a chain saw and this track fork lift make work much faster going today than the restoration in 1935. PH Log Homes out of Tahlequah is doing the work. But don't try to recruit them just yet! They're a three person operation and totally covered up in work! :)
This is expected to be an 8 month process of restoration.
It's much faster and easier to replace logs than to repair rotten pieces of logs
