Did You Know You Can Start A Fire With An 'AA' Battery?
Categories: Tips & Tricks
This great idea is simple, and makes great use of things you should already have with you while camping or in the outdoors at night. First of all, you'll almost always have a flashlight with you, and it has batteries, so you won't have to worry about forgetting to bring them. Secondly, you will have to consider the type of gum you bring along, because it's type with a foil wrapper that's going to make this work.
You'll want to cut the wrappers down into hourglass shaped pieces.
This acts something like blowing a fuse, in that the narrow section is going to get a high volume of electricity for the thickness of the foil in the hourglass center, and cause it to heat up and burn.
So get some dry grass, and connect the top and bottom of the foil to the ends of the battery. When the foil touches both ends of the battery, it will burn out the middle of the foil paper, igniting the grass.
Light your fire and warm up!
